When Diamonds Are Your Bond

Since the book and then the film “Diamonds are Forever” the name James Bond is intimately linked with diamonds and the women who wear them. While the boys may watch Bond films for the action and the ‘love’ interest, most women watch to drool over the new James Bond and to see the clothes and the sparklers the latest Bond girls are wearing.

In the present financial crisis the Bond films become even more popular as people visually wallow in the extravagance of the film as a way of escaping their everyday lives and worries. The only time that many of us see the type of clothes, cars and jewellery that are part of the Bond films or television and film awards ceremonies is at the cinema or on television. No doubt everyone’s eyes will be glued to the set when the Royal Premiere for the new Bond film is aired.

The latest Bond offering, “Quantum of Solace” (the 22nd in the series) has a new Bond girl, Agent Field, played by Gemma Arteton. When the Royal World Premiere of the film opened in Leicester Square on Wednesday, Gemma was sporting fabulous diamond jewellery. The Bond girl glittered with diamond hoop earrings, a diamond ring and a white diamond lace bracelet. No wonder everyone wants to play next to Bond.
