Shopping for wedding rings can be one of the more exciting aspects of planning a wedding. You’re able to go and choose rings which you’ll be wearing for the rest of your life together. It’s important to consider what metals, shapes, sizes and thicknesses you like and are comfortable with. After all, you’ll be wearing this for a long time!
The bride’s ring normally follows the same style as her engagement ring, with the groom having something similar. Although, this isn’t set in stone, nothing is stopping you going for different styles or colours.
Yellow gold wedding rings are probably the most traditional style, with 14k and 18k gold making the ring much more durable. White gold wedding rings are also popular as they will compliment any existing white gold, silver or platinum jewellery.
The bride’s wedding ring should take into consideration the engagement ring. A straight edged engagement ring will allow a straight edged band to sit alongside it nicely. If the engagement ring has a stone setting, which interferes with a straight edged band, then a fitted or curved wedding ring will be a better choice.
Nowadays, many wedding rings are encrusted with gems such as diamonds, rubies or sapphires as they are hard wearing and long lasting. A nice touch with wedding rings is to have the date of the wedding, or an inscription of some sort engraved on the inside of the rings, but make sure you right down exactly what you want to avoid any mishaps!
